One Planet, 17 Goals: Geography and the SDGs
For grown-ups
Companion summary
Imagine you could redesign one thing in your town to make life better for everyone — where would you start? Every choice we make, from what we eat to how we travel, quietly shapes the world other people will inherit. The United Nations set 17 goals in 2015, aiming to end poverty and protect oceans — all by 2030. When you finish exploring these goals, try finding one SDG that connects to something you already care about.
A World in 2050
A World in 2050
Imagine you are 40 years old. The global population is expected to reach around 9.7 billion people by 2050. Everyone will need food, clean water, energy, and a safe place to live — all on the same planet we have today. Here is the challenge: Earth's resources are not infinite. Some of them, like rainforests and clean groundwater, can be used up faster than they can recover. So the big question is: how do we meet the needs of everyone alive today without making life impossible for people who are not yet born?
💭 Think about this
Think of one resource you use every day. Do you think there is enough of it for everyone on Earth, now and in 100 years? Why or why not?
