Who lives in your home?
A family is a group of people who live together. Some families are big and some are small. You might live with mum, dad, brothers, sisters, or grandparents. Every family is special and different. Who lives in your home with you?
People near your home
Neighbours are people who live near your house. They might live next door or down the street. You might see them when you play outside. Some neighbours become good friends. Being friendly to neighbours is kind and helpful.
Your family might change
Families can grow when a new baby arrives. Sometimes people move away to live somewhere else. Grandparents or other relatives might come to stay. All these changes are normal. Your family is special however it looks.
Different types of families
Some children live with one parent. Some live with two parents or grandparents. Some have step-parents or foster parents. Some have lots of brothers and sisters. Some have none. All families are different and all are good.

1. Sam lives with his mum and his big sister. Who is in Sam's family at home?
- Sam lives with his mum.

- So Sam's family has three people: Sam, mum, and sister.
2. Leah's grandma lives in the house next door. Is grandma a neighbour?
- A neighbour is someone who lives near you.
- Grandma lives next door to Leah.
- Yes, grandma is Leah's neighbour and her family too!
3. Tom used to live with his dad and brother. Now a new baby sister lives with them too. How many people are in Tom's home now?
- Tom, dad, and brother make three people.
- A new baby sister has joined them.
- Now there are four people in Tom's home.
