A Puzzling Plant

A Puzzling Plant

Imagine two identical bean plants sitting on a windowsill. A student waters one plant every day and leaves the other completely dry. After two weeks, the watered plant is tall and green; the dry plant has wilted. The student says: 'Water makes plants grow better.' But wait — is that a scientific conclusion or just a guess? And how would you actually prove it? Before a scientist runs a single experiment, they do two crucial things: they state a hypothesis and they design a fair test. Today you will master both.
