What Do You Notice?

Look at your hand for thirty seconds. Really look. Notice the lines, the colour of your skin, whether your knuckles look different from the back of your hand. You have just done something scientists do every single day — you made an observation. But here is the tricky part: scientists have to share what they see with other people who were not there. How would you describe your hand so clearly that a stranger could sketch it perfectly?
