Different but Together: Understanding Respect and Difference

Imagine you are at lunch. Your friend opens their lunchbox and takes out a meal you have never seen before. It smells different. It looks different. What do you do — do you wrinkle your nose, or do you ask curiously what it is? All around the world, billions of people eat different foods, follow different religions, speak different languages, and celebrate different festivals. Some people pray five times a day. Others light candles on Friday evening. Some families bow to show greeting; others shake hands. None of these ways is wrong — they are simply different. Today's big question is: how should we treat people whose lives look different from ours?
