Think about this situation: a friend grabs your phone without asking, scrolls through your photos, then says, 'I knew you wouldn't mind.' Would you mind? Even if they turned out to be right that you didn't mind this time, something important still happened — they made a choice about your stuff without checking with you first. Now think about a different version: they say, 'Can I quickly show everyone that photo of us?' and you say, 'Sure, go ahead.' Same phone, same photo — but a very different feeling.
