Build Your Own Game!

Think of a game you love to play — indoors or outdoors. It could be tag, basketball, or anything else. Every game you have ever played was invented by someone, just like you. Today YOU get to be the inventor.

Every PE game — from football to tag — is built from four building blocks. When you choose all four, you have a real game! **1. Space** — Where will the game be played? You need to decide the size and shape of your playing area. A smaller space makes the game faster and harder. A bigger space gives players more room to move. **2. Equipment** — What objects will players use? You might pick a ball, a cone, a hoop, or even just your hands. You do not need expensive kit — be creative! **3. Rules** — Rules tell players what they CAN do and what they CANNOT do. Good rules are fair, simple, and easy to remember. Start with just two or three rules. For example: 'You may not run while holding the ball.' **4. Scoring** — How does a player or team earn a point? How do they win? For example: 'Score one point each time you pass the ball through the hoop. First to five points wins.' When you design your game, think: Is it safe? Is it fair? Can everyone join in? These three questions make your game better for everyone.
