Design Your Own Poster in Docs!

Think about a poster you have seen recently — maybe on a school noticeboard, in a shop window, or on a wall at home. What made it catch your eye? Was it a big, bold title? Bright colours? A striking picture? Great posters grab your attention in seconds. Today you are going to learn how to make one yourself — using a word-processing app called Docs.

A word-processing app like Google Docs or Microsoft Word lets you type text, change how it looks, and add pictures — all on one page. When you use it to make a poster, you follow four key steps. **Step 1 — Set up the page.** Go to File › Page Setup (or Layout) and choose Landscape so your poster is wider than it is tall. This gives you more room to spread things out. **Step 2 — Add a big, bold title.** Click at the top of the page and type your poster's main message. Select the title text, then use the font-size box to make it very large — try 60 or 72 pt. Click the Bold button (B) so it stands out. Now click the text-colour button (the A with a coloured bar) and pick a colour that fits your topic. **Step 3 — Add body text.** Below the title, type the key details your reader needs — what, where, when, and who. Keep sentences short. Choose a font size of about 20–24 pt so it is easy to read. **Step 4 — Insert an image.** Go to Insert › Image and choose a picture from the web or your device. Click the image once to select it, then drag a corner handle to make it bigger or smaller. Drag the image to the best position on the page.
