A Dangerous Question
Imagine you are living in Europe in 1680. Your king tells you he rules by the will of God — questioning him is the same as questioning God himself. Then one day, a philosopher publishes a book asking: 'What if rulers only have power because the people give it to them?' Just owning that book could get you arrested. Why do you think new ideas can feel so threatening to those already in power? Think about that before we begin.
