Where Are You Right Now?
Close your eyes for five seconds. What can you hear? What can you feel — is it warm or cool? What can you smell? Now open your eyes. You just noticed your surroundings. Authors do exactly the same thing when they write a story — they notice everything about a place and then describe it so vividly that readers feel they are really there.
