Our Five Senses

We have five special ways to learn about things. These are called our senses. We see with our eyes. We hear with our ears. We smell with our nose. We taste with our tongue. We touch with our skin.

Each Sense Has a Body Part

Every sense needs a special body part to work. Your eyes help you see colours and shapes. Your ears help you hear sounds and music. Your nose helps you smell flowers and food. Your tongue helps you taste sweet or sour things. Your skin helps you feel soft or rough things.

Using Our Senses Every Day

We use our senses all the time! You see your friends at school. You hear the bell ring. You smell your lunch. You taste your apple. You feel your jumper. Our senses help us stay safe and happy.

Let's Match Senses to Body Parts

Now you can practise matching each sense! Think about what you do with each body part. Does it help you see, hear, smell, taste or touch? You're doing great!
