What is weather?

Weather is what the sky and air are like outside. Is it sunny or cloudy? Is it raining or snowing? Is it windy or calm? These things are the weather. We can look outside to see today's weather.

Looking at the sky

The sky tells us a lot about the weather. A blue sky often means sunny weather. Grey clouds might mean rain is coming. White fluffy clouds can mean nice weather. Dark clouds often bring storms.

How does the air feel?

Weather is also about how the air feels. Is it hot or cold outside? Is the wind blowing leaves around? Is the air still and quiet? These feelings help us describe the weather.

Why we describe weather

Talking about weather helps us know what to wear. It helps us plan what to do outside. If it is rainy, we need a coat. If it is sunny, we might need sun cream.

    1. I can feel the wind on my face.
    2. The wind is making things move around.
    3. The leaves and trees are swaying.
    4. Today the weather is windy.
