Day & night
Notice how the sky changes.
The sky changes every day
Look up at the sky right now. What do you see? The sky looks different in the morning, afternoon, and night. Let's explore how it changes! During the day, the sky is bright. At night, the sky is dark. These changes happen every single day.
What happens in the daytime?
In the daytime, the Sun is in the sky. The Sun makes the sky bright and light. We can see clouds during the day. The sky is often blue when it is sunny. Daytime is when we play outside and see our shadows.
What happens at night?
At night, the Sun is not in our sky. The sky becomes dark. We can see the Moon and stars. The Moon is bright in the dark sky. Sometimes we see no Moon at all. Night-time is when we sleep and rest.
Watching the sky change
You can watch the sky change! In the morning, it gets lighter and lighter. In the evening, it gets darker and darker. The colours change too. Sometimes the evening sky is orange or pink. This is called sunset. Well done for noticing!
