Where Do Animals Live?
Animals live in different places called habitats. A habitat is an animal's home. It gives them food, water, and shelter. Let's explore four special habitats: ocean, forest, desert, and farm.
The Ocean
The ocean is full of salty water. Fish, whales, and dolphins live here. They have special bodies for swimming. Octopuses hide on the ocean floor. These animals cannot live on dry land.
The Forest
Forests have lots of trees and plants. Squirrels, bears, and deer live in forests. Birds build nests in the branches. Rabbits hide under bushes. The trees give shade and food.
The Desert
Deserts are very hot and dry places. Camels, snakes, and lizards live here. These animals need very little water. Camels store water in their bodies. Scorpions hide under rocks during the day.
The Farm
Farms are where people keep helpful animals. Cows, pigs, chickens, and sheep live on farms. Farmers give them food and water. These animals help us by giving milk, eggs, and wool.
