What Kind of Data Is That? Python Data Types Explained

Every Value Has a Label
Every Value Has a Label
Imagine you work in a warehouse. Every box must be labelled — 'fragile', 'frozen', 'heavy' — so workers handle it correctly. Mix up the labels and things go wrong fast. Python does the same thing with every piece of data in your program: it gives it a type label. Without that label, Python wouldn't know whether to treat '3' as a number you can add to something, or as a character on a screen. Quick recall: In Python, what symbol do you use to store a value in a variable? (Think back to any program you have written before.)
